A Prophetic Call
In times like these, when the foundations are overturned and destroyed, the remnant is called to respond to the urgent question: “What can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3 NKJV).
The Evangelical Christian Network (ECN) and its publication, The Faithful Witness, take this challenge seriously, driven by a desire to answer the call by raising a banner: “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19 NKJV).
We believe that three banners need to be raised. The first calls upon the church to seek the Lord’s face for revival. The second urges the church to be more effective in reaching a lost world for Christ, especially within the context of contemporary cultural challenges. The third banner aims to facilitate encouragement and unity through networking.
Over time, the ECN adopted the motto, “A calling to equip, empower, and encourage the remnant.” The ECN is not just another Christian organization; it is a network within the body of Christ, striving to fulfill its great calling. It envisions the body of Christ, with all its diverse ministries, working together as one, experiencing the powerful move of God’s Spirit as described in the Book of Acts, and encouraging those who remain (Revelation 3:2).
The ECN aims for more than merely networking to bring different role players together. It aspires to real and practical unity within the body of Christ, in accordance with John 17, to “be of one accord, having one purpose and being of one mind” (cf. Acts 1:14; 2:46; 4:24; 5:12; 15:25; Romans 15:6). It seeks to be a community of believers, consisting of leaders and laypeople from various theological, denominational, and ministerial backgrounds, who love and cherish one another and facilitate mutual support and cooperation throughout the body of Christ.
The ECN’s vision of revival through unity can be expressed by the words in Psalm 133:1-3: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.”
Let us work together to inspire the remnant to live up to this great calling.
